The rising star boasts substantial social media presence
The young golfer can count on multiple well-known backers as she starts her first LPGA appearance on Thursday.
The 18-year-old athlete, who is the granddaughter of Donald Trump, received a special exemption to participate at Florida's Annika event in the Sunshine State.
The former president, a passionate golfer, owns multiple courses worldwide and regularly plays against Kai.
"He's fairly competent. I can't say much but we have tight competitions," she stated.
She mentioned that her grandfather, who won't be present, counseled her: "Just don't get nervous."
"He basically told me to play and have fun," she continued.
"From my perspective, he's just a normal grandpa. He won't be there this weekend. He's focused on world affairs, making him somewhat preoccupied."
As an amateur, Kai has competed in just three tournaments in 2024 and holds ranking 461 in AJGA listings.
Yet she's able to receive tips from 15-time major champion, romantically involved with her mother.
"He is the greatest golfer in the world," Kai stated.
"And he's a superior human being. He suggested me to go out there, have fun, following whatever happens."
Kai will face some of the biggest names in women's golf at this tournament, including second-ranked the champion, England's Charley Hull, professional Thompson and last year's winner Lilia Vu.
Officials mentioned that Kai's presence brings the sport to new audiences, especially among younger fans.
Kai boasts substantial online presence and recently launched an exclusive apparel and wellness brand.
The competition starts at late afternoon GMT.
