Approximately 55,000 households have reportedly been harmed by the weather, with their items and dwellings ruined.

Persistent storms over the past week have intensified the already dire circumstances of the vast number of evacuated residents in the Gaza Strip, as reported by humanitarian agencies.

"Horrendous" Conditions Creates Severe Dangers

A spokesman characterized the weather overnight as "horrendous", with precipitation so severe that as much as 15cm (6in) of water gathered on the streets.

"Last night was truly terrible for the families. The downpours were so intense... And the winds were so strong," stated the official.

Authorities voice grave anxiety that minors living in temporary structures in wet garments will succumb to hypothermia and other ailments.

Fatalities and Widespread Damage

The health ministry have reported that one baby has died from the cold and no fewer than 11 other people have died in building collapses due to the harsh conditions.

Additional accounts suggest a increased number of casualties. Authorities stated that several structures had fully given way and many others had been partly destroyed.

  • Roughly 55,000 families harmed by flooding.
  • More than 40 designated shelters submerged.
  • Countless residents required to relocate again.

Relief Operations Seen as Not Enough

Organizations have increased distribution of tarpaulins, blankets and garments after the ceasefire began, but they emphasize there is still not enough aid entering.

"We are working relentlessly to deliver that aid and to distribute it, but the size of the needs is so enormous that we are faced with thousands of families and minors who are really enduring hardship each evening," warned one representative.

Long-Term Concerns and Agreement Terms

The subsequent part of the truce includes proposals for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with political arrangements, the withdrawal of military forces, and other terms.

Aid organizations have highlighted the necessity for "expanded and ongoing relief to meet pressing and future requirements."

The hostilities was triggered by an offensive in late 2023. Subsequent actions have resulted in a significant number of lives lost in the region, according to medical reports.
