Patrick Bamford Signs With the Blades Despite Initiating Derogatory Songs Targeting Coach Wilder

Patrick Bamford is now a member of Sheffield United only half a year after starting derogatory songs directed at the team's coach, Chris Wilder.

The 32-year-old forward, a free agent since leaving Leeds, has agreed to a contract joining the Championship strugglers through the winter. His seven-year career with Leeds concluded amicably in August.

Among the player's final notable acts as a Leeds player involved leading offensive songs regarding Chris Wilder amid Leeds' promotion party this spring. Now, the one-cap England player will feature under Wilder as the Blades’ manager seeks to lift his beloved club away from the drop zone.

Past History Involving the Striker and the Manager

Both men had a past prior to Leeds won promotion back to the Premier League last season while Sheffield United lost the playoff final to Sunderland. The manager called the forward as a "muppet" when the roles were reversed during the 2018-19 season and the Blades won direct promotion whereas Leeds United fell short in the playoffs.

Reconciliation & Moving Forward

All seems has been put behind them with United, the league's lowest scorers, in desperate need of a boost in attack while Bamford aiming to revive his playing days.

The song about Wilder gained traction in April. An apologetic Bamford along with Leeds boss, Farke, phoned the Sheffield United manager the next day.

Chris Wilder stated at the time: “Had a conversation with Patrick yesterday and I have no problem at all with it. I'm uncertain regarding the language from a fellow professional! However I appreciated and respected him giving me a call.

“We had a short while and similarly I talked with Daniel Farke too and we had a longer discussion together and he's a super guy, a top guy. Back in my playing days we would dish it out and accept it and that’s an integral part of the game across all levels, even on Sunday league. I've got absolutely no issue. I am cool with it and I told him that to Pat.”

Recent Career Struggles

The forward featured in 18 games for Leeds last season however the ex- Nottingham Forest, Chelsea FC and Boro striker has faced difficulties with injury over the past few seasons.
