Former Physician Accused of Sexual Assault Allegations Involving 38 Individuals in His Care

Legal authorities report that a former physician has been charged with performing sexual assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were patients.

Details of the Serious Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of sexual offences – comprising some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.

A deputy chief prosecutor stated, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

Scope of the Investigation

These allegations come after what police called a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

The defendant will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

List of Charges

The charging documents said the 45 charges include:

• Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
• 17 counts of assault by penetration.
• Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
• 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
• One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
