David Walliams parted ways with longtime publisher.

The author

Acclaimed children's author and comedian David Walliams has been dropped by his UK book publisher, the company has said.

A representative for the firm said: "After careful consideration, and under the leadership of its recently appointed chief executive, HarperCollins UK has chosen to cease publishing future works by David Walliams."

It has been reported that the move was taken subsequent to an investigation into reports of inappropriate behaviour directed at young women.

The firm declined to specify the reasons for its decision, noting: "We do not comment on private personnel issues."

An Illustrious Publishing History

Walliams is one of the UK's most best-selling authors for kids, having sold in excess of 60 million copies worldwide in five dozen languages.

The debut children's novel from Walliams, *The Boy in the Dress*, was released through HarperCollins fifteen years ago.

Several of his books, for example *Gangsta Granny* and *Billionaire Boy*, have found new life as TV movies.

To date, he has released over four dozen titles in total, encompassing a Christmas book called *Santa & Son*, which was released through HarperCollins last autumn.

A Dual Career

His career breakthrough occurred on the TV sketch series *Little Britain* and has also won National Television Awards for his work as a judge on *Britain's Got Talent*.

He was awarded an OBE back in 2017 for his services to charity and the arts.

The publisher's decision comes after the appointment of Kate Elton as HarperCollins UK's recent CEO this past October.
