Marshawn Kneeland was the 56th overall pick in the 2024 draft
Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman Marshawn Kneeland has died aged 24.
Kneeland was drafted by the Cowboys in the second round in 2024 and played 18 times for the team, including four starts.
He scored his first touchdown in Tuesday's defeat to the Arizona Cardinals when he retrieved a blocked punt.
"Marshawn was a beloved teammate and part of our family," the Dallas Cowboys said.
"We send our condolences regarding Marshawn are with his partner Catalina and his family."
Kneeland was picked by the Cowboys with the 56th selection of the 2024 NFL Draft after his college career for Western Michigan University.
His representative, Jonathan Perzley, said his "heart aches" for the loss of the athlete who "gave his all" into each opportunity.
"I watched him fight his way from a aspiring young man at Western Michigan with a dream to being a esteemed pro for the Dallas Cowboys," Perzley commented.
The NFL said it is "profoundly grieved" by the news.
