Analysis has found that close to 90 flights connected to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein reportedly landed at and took off from British airfields, with some allegedly having onboard British women who allege they were abused by the found guilty child sex offender.
These aviation records were among thousands of legal papers and files released by the estate of Jeffrey Epstein that have been made public over the past year. The investigation found 87 aircraft movements connected to Epstein – featuring many that were hitherto undisclosed – coming into or leaving from British airfields between the start of the 1990s and 2018.
Unnamed “females” were recorded among the passengers travelling into and out of the UK. Notably, 15 of these UK flights took place following Epstein’s 2008 conviction for soliciting sex from a minor.
“This is ‘astonishing’ that there had never been a ‘thorough probe in the UK’ into his dealings in the country,” remarked US lawyers representing numerous Epstein victims.
A statement from one of the British victims was instrumental in convicting Epstein’s accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell of sex trafficking of minors in the US in 2021. However, that victim has never been contacted by British law enforcement, as stated by her attorney based in Florida.
In a response, the London's Metropolitan Police said they had “not been provided with any new evidence that would support restarting the investigation.” They commented, “If new and relevant information be presented to us, encompassing any arising from the release of documents in the US, we will review it.”
Proposed legislation to release every document held by the American government in regarding Epstein was approved by the House and Senate last month. The Department of Justice has until 19 December to follow through. Hundreds of thousands of papers are anticipated to be released.
In a related development, a federal judge decided last week that the DOJ could make public case files from a sex-trafficking case against Maxwell, Epstein’s long-term associate, who is serving a 20-year jail term over the allegations.
